The 10th Capra Meeting on Radiation Reaction

Huntsville, Alabama

25-29th June, 2007

The 10th Capra Meeting and Workshop on Radiation Reaction will be held 25-29 June, 2007, on the campus of the University of Alabama in Huntsville. In keeping with previous Capra meetings tradition, the meeting will include two parts: In the first participants will present talks, and the second will be devoted to a workshop aimed to facilitate discussions, brainstorming, and collaboration. As the usual practice in previous Capra meeting has been, the focus of the meeting is on radiation reaction in general relativity in the broad sense. As always, talks on tangential topics (e.g., astrophysics of extreme mass ratio binaries) are encouraged and welcome.

The Program is now available. We are planning to divide the meeting into two parts: the first, starting on June 25, will be the Capra meeting, including contributed talks. The Capra meeting will be followed by the workshop (starting the afternoon of June 27), in which we’ll break up into informal discussion groups, and encourage collaboration and brainstorming.

Historical note The first meeting in this series was held in August 1998 at a ranch in northeastern San Diego county. This ranch was once owned by Frank Capra, the American director of such movies as “Mr. Smith Goes to Washington'' and “It's a Wonderful Life''. Capra was a Caltech alumnus, and donated the ranch to Caltech. In the tradition of the “Texas'' symposia, we call each meeting in this series a “Capra'' meeting, even if the venue is rather removed from Capra's ranch.

The venue of the meeting will be Administrative Science Building, room 114 (ASB114), a short walk from the Bevill Center. The workshop following the meeting will be in the Materials Science Building.
